Love it or hate it, pumpkin spice has become the flavor of Autumn. The popularity is driven by nostalgia, a wide variety of products, and a strong seasonal association. The word ‘pumpkin spice’ is given to colors too; wall paints, fabrics, nail polish, even hair dyes!
Lora and I just completed two projects using our new pattern, 3YD November, and the pattern is FREE for a limited time (link below). Pumpkin spice describes the feel of these small quilts and not a single pumpkin in sight! Nothing against pumpkins, but the Maple Leaf block has been one of my seasonal favorites for a very long time. This popular block was first published in Practical Needlework by Clara Stone in 1906! Okay, not a favorite for that long of a time, but at least a couple decades. 😉
3YD November requires just three yards of fabric, a yard each of Light, Medium, and Dark. The quilt finishes at 36″ x 50″. The size works great as a throw or a table topper. Lora made four scrappy Maple Leaf blocks instead six, and sewed them in a row creating a beautiful runner for her fall celebrations.
