We’re so excited to partner with Missouri Star Quilt Company again! This is a big deal for us. You see, Lora and I have been fan girls of Jenny Doan and her team for decades. We’ve flown to Hamilton and visited the MSQC shops (and shipped several boxes home). My husband refers to Missouri Star Quilt Company as the quilters Mecca. We’re compelled to sojourn there. If you’ve never heard of the Missouri Star Quilt Company, I’m sorry. I have inadvertently led you down a Quilty path of fabric pleasures. Turn back now and save yourself.
Confetti Star Quilt Pattern
Our first video tutorial by Jenny Doan was with Confetti Star in 2020. Confetti Star was a big hit. The pattern included multiple layouts. Jenny showed these pretty quilts in the MSQC Confetti Star tutorial.
Wallah Quilt Pattern
Next was Wallah, in 2022. The MSQC Wallah Quilt pattern video tutorial was also a big hit. Again, the pattern included multiple layouts. This one had a trick. You made an ordinary four-patch block, slice it a couple times and sew it back together to get this really clever block. No tiny triangles to sew. It happens by magic! Wallah! (Voila Quilt Pattern was already taken so we used the Americanized version of the word.)
Bundles and Bows Quilt Pattern
And now, Bundles and Bows! Today, Friday, August 2, 2024, the Missouri Star Quilt Company has released a new Jenny Doan tutorial featuring Bundles and Bows Quilt Pattern by Material Girlfriends. (Squeal!!)
All three patterns, Confetti Star, Wallah, and Bundles and Bows, are 10″ square, layer-cake friendly patterns or cut your own 10″ squares from yardage. You need 24 Light 10″ squares and 24 Dark 10″ squares – same fabric requirements for all three patterns!
How did we come up with Bundles and Bows block? This clever block is one of Lora’s creations. She was playing around with the “disappearing” block formula. Are you familiar with the Disappearing Nine-patch, Disappearing Hour-glass, Disappearing Four-patch, etc.? This is basically a Disappearing L-block. Clever girl.
Bundles and Bows pattern has six full-color pages, step-by-step graphics, and instructions, plus 16 different Layout options! Clever indeed.
Bundles and Bows Kits
Kits? Of course. Check out these new Bundles and Bows kits. The first kit image is made from the Color Personality layer-cake by Material Girlfriends, produced by Marcus Fabrics. The second is called Sea Glass, a gorgeous Tonga batik line by Timeless Treasures, the last is a handsome collection of navy and cream batiks from Hoffman Fabrics.
Missouri Star Quilt Company will have a super cute Halloween kit “Hey Boo” by Leela Boutique for Moda. Sorry I didn’t have their link at the time I wrote this. I’ll add it later after the video’s been released.
You Got Me
How many layer cakes do you have hiding in your stash? If you’re like me, you probably have more than you remembered! Rummage around and see if you can make this cute quilt out of your stash. I can make it several times with what’s in my middle drawer. Wink. You’ll need the pattern.

Addy
Ad Astra “Addy”, my red Border Collie, loves the Bundles and Bows quilt too. 😉 She was begging big-time for me to throw the ball into the lake for her. She loves jumping off our dock to swim after the ball. Nope. No wet dog near the quilt, thank you. Otherwise, she’s a wonderful quilting buddy. She hangs out under my desk, making sure my sewing pedal doesn’t slide too far from my foot’s reach. She’s a good girl.
Thank you for letting us share our excitement regarding Bundles and Bows with you. I know many of you have already made a Bundles and Bows quilt in one of our many workshops. We’d love a ‘show and tell’. If you do the Facebook thing, share a pictures in our Material Girlfriends Quilting Gang group.
Happy sewing,
Lisa W. Norton and Lora W. Zmak
