We’re turning 60 this year. I thought we were turning 59 and Lora rudely corrected me. I think she can turn 60 and I’ll just turn 59 again. I somehow missed it the first time around. Man, did 59 years go by fast. I think I blinked. My Life Journey is going far too fast – 90 miles an hour with the windows rolled down!
Don’t blink and miss the next block of the I Love Us Sew Along. It is time to kick off those shoes. The I Love Us in June block is ready to roll.
Life is a Journey. Where has your journey taken you? Where are you going? My grandmother once said, “You live until you die.” We sort of blinked a couple times at her stating the obvious. However, she knew a lot of people that stopped living before their expiration date. I intend to be like my grandmother.
Live a Creative Life
Life is a Journey. Each chapter of our life story is different. One of the consistent threads through my Life Journey has been creativity. Yet, I tend to freeze up because I’m afraid of making a mistake! When you’re a pattern writer, that can be a bit crippling! I love this quote. It helps me to keep designing and writing. Plus, I have an amazing team of proofers and testers. They are the ones that give our patterns that error free reputation!

Rough Waters will Happen
Life is a Journey. Journeys are rarely straight. There are ups and downs, but you can prevail. I just finished a pattern called Rough Waters. The batik fabrics are Tonga Lakeside by Timeless Treasures and are expected to ship to a quilt shop near you in September. For the pattern, visit MaterialGirlfriendsShop.com. We’ll have kits available in September too.
On the back of the Rough Waters pattern, I included this poem.
Have The Courage
Have the courage
To put your heart into everything
Make great usage of opportunity
As you embark on your journey
You may face rough water
But, just keep pushing yourself
When necessary, adjust those sails
So you can prevail

Embrace Life’s Adventures
Life is a Journey. My latest adventure had me flying to Florida to meet our new granddaughter! I’m a new Nana! My middle son Ryan, and his lovely wife Jordyn, just had Micah Eden on April 22, 2023. She is an absolute doll! This 3 week old cherub has stolen her Nana’s heart!
Micah is the first baby on our side of the family. First baby on her mommy’s side too. Lora said, “Nana?! I wanted to be called Nana by my grandchildren too.” I’ve an aunt called Nana so we’re just going to form a circle and sing “Nana, Nana, Nana, Nana, Nana, Nana, Nana, Nana, Batman!” If you’re a Nana you can join our Nana circle too. I could show you 20+ more photos but my husband just rolled his eyes because I’m including Micah in this blog. Ha! I’ve a few baby blankets to design and sew. I’m sew excited about this new creative chapter.
Life is a Journey. Live until you Die. Live a Creative Life. Rough Waters will happen. Embrace Life’s Adventures. What would you add to your Life is a Journey mottos? I’d love to read them. Leave me a comment below. Just ping me if you want to see those 20+ photos!
Happy Sewing,
